Runescape Cooking - Feel the Burn:How To Cook Rocktail Fish Without Burning: What You Do From Level 93 to 95
Been really hopping recently - Aside from playing with my new Lenovo Ideapad S10-3t Netbook Tablet Computer (my caps- I really love this little netbook!) I've been catching up on all the work (and play) that's fallen behind. You may have noticed several new Runescape blogs in the last few days.
Today's blog is short and sweet, and relates to the hubpages I write (see sidebar.) With all the updates recently, there's been a lot going on in Runescape. And with so many BIG changes, there's been a minor change that didn't catch a lot of notice.
The shortcuts update, Hidey-Holes and Rope Racks. This small, unsung update is a lot more important than you'd suspect. Sure, the Rope Racks aren't such a big deal. After all, how many of us truly use the Eagle Transport System that much? But the Hidey-Holes are a very nice change. Out of all the Runescape agility shortcuts, the crossbow-and-grapple shortcuts have been, as a class, the most useless. I mean really, who just happens to carry a crossbow and grapple around by accident? If you've got them with you, you planned for it.
As a result, most of us ignore those shortcuts. Jagex finally did something about it... with a little work, those shortcuts will forever after be easy to access!
...Yes, I did say 'a little work'. Don't panic, it's not that hard. When I first looked into it, I realized there were the 'repeaters' all over the internet; you know, the sites that just cut and paste quotes from Jagex. And there were good informational sites that offered dictionary definitions of certain aspects. But nobody had bothered yet to tie it all together into one step by step guide.
I play a lot. Obviously, since I blog about it. But I've only done one guide previously. There's no sense writing a guide that's already been written about 50 times or more all over the internet. So my one and only guide up until now has been the 'cooking Rocktails' guide. I wrote it because it was a helpful technique, very useful between cooking levels of 93 to 95, and nobody had written one.
The Hidey-Hole and Rope Rack guide came about in the same way. I couldn't find one, and it seemed like a useful idea, so I wound up writing it myself. I hope you find it useful!
Welcome to Crewman6's Runescape Adventure Log! Monique (my wife!) and I have played Runescape together since 2004. We do the quests together, hunt penguins every Tuesday night, and help each other achieve our in-game goals. We play for fun, so our skill sets are a bit here-and-there. I thought it would be fun as we reach goals, and set new ones, to post tips, tricks, and thoughts as we go.

«Oldest ‹Older 1201 – 1219 of 1219Haven't actually been there. The thing is, it takes a quest. All quests are annoying and painful for me, so it's something I will probably never do, but you never know! :P
Good point - Years ago when we first started, I didn't like them. Then I saw Monique doing one and reaping the rewards, and we started doing them as a team. It's the only reason I started liking them.
This is such a busy time of year for me... I hate it. I was hoping to have about 15 videos stocked p by now but I've only gotten 3 completed.
That's understandable - heading into Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to be stressful times.
My boss left the job suddenly, leaving us unprepared and without enough manpower to keep up. I've been making up the difference by working a bit late here and there, but they're trying to hire another person, which is really the only way we'll catch back up. By the time I get home, all I want to do is 'escape'. So, any time off work is spent with my head in a book or playing a game. Haven't gotten much accomplished personally, since work became so busy.
Hopefully it won't last too much longer. I keep telling myself, do the best you can, and remember... there's always eBay!
Wow that really sucks. So sorry for you. :(
Happy Thanksgiving by the way. I hope you had a good one!
On another note I'm getting back into legacy pking. It's going well aside from nobody will risk anything, and people will randomly attack you without any food or risk. It makes no since because the only way they could kill you is if your afk. But every now and then I find a good fight, so that's something.

Thanks Sam, I appreciate it. We're holding our own at the moment.
Thanksgiving is still on it's way, near the end of November. Monique and I got married on a Thanksgiving weekend nearly 10 years ago!
Maybe the pk'ers just want the combat, and don't care if they die or not. Must be a pain when you want a good fight with interesting stakes.
Been having fun on Elite: Dangerous, but Monday night I kept getting killed... replacing my ship is expensive. Had a nice nest egg, now I can only afford to die one more time before I can't afford my ship and have to go back to the beginner one...
But I still love it. It reminds me so much of the game from 30 years ago.
That's awesome! It's fun that they also brought it back after all that time. By the way I'm so sorry for the late response, I've been so busy that even turning on my computer and knowing I'm not going to do any work (aside from grinding on rs :P) feels amazing.
No problem- it's been a bit crazy here, too. Just finished a 12-hour workday, and didn't even make a dent in the to-do list.
Glad you've found some free time. Are you going to do the Halloween quest? Monique and I just did it yesterday. We followed a guide, and it was still a major pain. Not my cup of tea, though big props for the cool atmosphere. I don't think I liked it enough to go back for the high-level rewards.
They're supposed to have some good updates this month. I'm pretty interested in the Edimmu especially.
Did you ever find some better pk'ers? Last time you mentioned it, sounded like they were just wasting your time.
I haven't done the Halloween quest. I think I would have but I just don't have enough time. That sucks too about having to work that long and it feels like you've made no progress. I think we've all been there sadly. :/ Pking is still pretty much a useless activity, but I was able to get another video of it off.
I imagine the quest appeals to some players, but it wasn't our style. I'm looking forward to the 2nd half of the elf city though. It's been a fun update so far. I've enjoyed the new thieving skilling.
That's awesome. What skill do you need to go there?
Prifddinas is so huge, I'm kind of lost in it. At the moment, playing harps in order to upgrade my pickaxe and hatchet to crystal.
The requirements are vast. Below is a wiki link, plus the bare bones of the requirements:

(You won't be able to start the quest without having all requirements. Boosts will not work.)
Long-time players, especially questers, will likely have most of that already. It was pure luck for me... Monique and I love doing the quests together, and both finally maxed our skills. (10 years of our lives gone...)
Prifddinas is overwhelming. My only wish is that they had every one of the teleports in a central room so you didn't have to run all over the city to get to a particular one.
I'm completely at a loss for what boss I should be killing next. Any suggestions?
My 'bossing skills' are pretty weak. Of the three main ones I can do, Jad was the most fun, but least rewarding. Maybe the Queen Black Dragon? Even with the mistakes a klutz like me makes, I could survive her and make a bit of profit.
Or are you looking for something like brutal dragons, black beasts, or tormented demons? One of my favorite profit-monsters is the Gladius.
Hope that helped!
It definitely did. I'm going to check what requirements you need for the Gladius beasts. How often do they drop steadfast, ragefire, and glavin... (think its glavin...) boots?
You're thinking of Glacors, which I didn't even remember. From what I hear, they're good money, but I've never tried them. I like semi-afk stuff, and they take a lot of attention. Gladius are in the Monastery of Ascension, just a bit N/E of Ooglog. With good ranged gear, you can fight them for hours, alching most of the drops and selling the ascension keystones. It's pretty random, but I usually make 2 or 3 million in an hour, with little effort and less attention.
